Education & Identity

Strengthening connection, learning, and belonging

Education and shared experiences play a central role in how people connect to Jewish life. From early childhood through young adulthood, opportunities across the community foster learning, build confidence, and create a strong sense of belonging, supported by an annual investment of over $1 million in Jewish education and nearly $500,000 in youth and camp experiences.

This impact is shaped through programs offered by the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver, Vancouver Talmud Torah, Ner Atid and the Richmond Jewish Day School.

Community Schools

Building knowledge and belonging

Jewish education across our community helps shape confident, engaged individuals with a strong sense of identity and belonging.

In both day schools and supplementary programs, students build knowledge, develop pride in their identity, and gain the skills and values that connect them to Jewish life and the broader community. These environments also engage families, creating continuity between learning and everyday life.

This work spans partners including King David High School, Richmond Jewish Day School, Tamim Academy of Vancouver, Vancouver Talmud Torah, and community-based programs across congregations and centres.

Camps & Youth

Where connection comes to life

Experiences outside the classroom play a powerful role in deepening connection and building community.

Through camps and youth programs, young people develop confidence, leadership, and a strong sense of belonging, forming relationships and memories that often last a lifetime. These shared experiences help translate learning into a lived connection.

With nearly $500,000 invested annually in camps and youth programming, this impact is created in partnership with Camp Hatikvah and Camp Miriam, where immersive experiences bring Jewish life, values, and community to life.

Youth & Young Adults

Connection that carries forward

Connection doesn’t end with school; it evolves.

Through campus and community-based programs, young adults find spaces to connect, lead, and explore their identity in meaningful ways. These experiences foster leadership, dialogue, and a continued sense of belonging during key life transitions.

This is strengthened through Hillel BC, which supports a vibrant Jewish presence across campuses, and through youth initiatives at the Jewish Community Centre (JCC) that create accessible, welcoming opportunities for engagement and participation beyond formal education.

Help strengthen Jewish education and connection

By bringing partners together and supporting this ecosystem of learning and engagement, we help ensure strong, connected Jewish life across our community, today and into the future.
