Jewish Federation of British Columbia offers financial support to help youth and young adults take part in educational programs in Israel. These scholarships are made possible through community support via the Federation Annual Campaign and grants from the Jewish Community Foundation.
Our goal is to ensure that meaningful Israel experiences are accessible, especially for applicants with demonstrated financial need and for those living in regions of British Columbia where regular connection with other Jewish youth may be limited.
The scholarship program is intended to support applicants who require financial assistance and those whose geographic location may limit access to Jewish peer experiences. Previous family trips or childhood time spent living in Israel do not disqualify an applicant.
In accordance with CRA regulations, funding is available only for Jewish Federation– and Masa‑approved programs. Scholarship funds are sent directly to the program provider, not to individuals.
Scholarships generally range from $500 to $3,000 (CAD), based on financial need. Approved programs must be a minimum of two weeks in length.
Applicants seeking funding for university programs or seminaries must demonstrate that at least 75 percent of the total program cost has already been secured and must commit to returning to Canada upon completion of the program.
Applications must be complete in order to be considered. Scholarships are not awarded retroactively, and applicants are expected to make a personal financial contribution toward their program.
