Supporting Strong, Connected Jewish Communities Wherever You Call Home

Jewish life in British Columbia is vibrant, diverse, and shaped by communities across the province. With approximately 40,000 Jews calling BC home, our Federation is committed to creating meaningful ways for people to connect, belong, and experience Jewish life, wherever they live.

Jewish communities are growing and organizing in ways that reflect their own histories, strengths, and priorities. Each community is unique, shaped by its people, geography, and interests.

Federation brings long‑standing relationships, experience, and shared community resources to stand alongside these communities as they build today and look toward the future.

Community Connectors:
Local, Trusted, Embedded

Jewish life across British Columbia is built locally, through people, ideas, and relationships. At the heart of this work is our dedicated network of Community Connectors, local residents embedded in the fabric of their communities, building Jewish life from the ground up, and fostering the personal connections that turn neighbours into community and community into family.

Do you have an idea for your community? Want to bring people together in a new way? Whether you're starting something new or building on what exists, this is your opportunity to help shape Jewish life where you live.

Have an idea? Let's explore it together

A group of children and adults gathered around a fire in a gazebo, with a man speaking animatedly and others listening. Some participants are holding sticks over the fire.
A man and a woman embrace each other in a garden setting, surrounded by greenery and a pathway. The woman has her hair in a bun and wears a purple sweater, while the man is bald and dressed in a maroo

Fueling Local Ideas Through Community Engagement Grants

Meaningful community often begins with a simple idea. Federation’s Community Engagement Grants provide flexible microgrants, ranging from $100 to $5,000, to support grassroots, communitydriven initiatives across British Columbia.

These grants reduce financial and logistical barriers, allowing local leaders to focus on what matters most: bringing people together. Whether it’s a communal Shabbat dinner, a holiday celebration, a speaker event, a book club, or a new way to connect, local ideas are the foundation of vibrant Jewish life.

All projects align with Federation’s charitable mandate and CRA guidelines, as we work together to build a strong, sustainable, and connected Jewish future. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Check the guidelines here.
