Children & Families

From Bedtime Stories to Community Roots: The Magic of PJ Library in BC

PJ Library is built around one of the most special moments in family life: those quiet minutes before bedtime, when kids are winding down and parents are fully present. It’s in these everyday moments that values are shared, questions are asked, and connections are formed.

Founded by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, PJ Library was created with a simple idea in mind: What if these moments could also be Jewish moments? Moments filled with curiosity, kindness, tradition, and joy.

Each month, PJ Library brings Jewish stories right to your door, making it easy to weave them into your family’s routine, one bedtime at a time.

But PJ Library doesn’t stop at the mailbox

Across British Columbia, PJ Library also connects families through joyful, hands‑on experience, holiday celebrations, family programs, and special gatherings like challah bakes, designed for parents and young children to celebrate Jewish life together, with no previous knowledge or familiarity required. These events create opportunities to meet other families, mark Jewish holidays in kid‑friendly ways, and feel part of a warm, welcoming community, no matter where you are in BC.

Do you love bringing people together and sharing meaningful Jewish experiences with other families?

Do you want to bring Jewish holidays and joy to your children's school?

Many parents want deeper connections for themselves and their children, but aren’t sure where to start. PJ Library of BC offers easy ways to get involved, from holiday guides and school kits to gathering grants and, of course, great books.

Some parents take it a step further by becoming Parent Connectors, bringing families together and building community close to home. It’s a simple, meaningful way to deepen those connections.

As a Parent Connector, you’ll help families in your area discover and take part in the many opportunities available to them, while creating meaningful connections and friendships for yourself and your children. Whether it’s organizing a playdate, hosting a holiday gathering, or simply helping someone feel welcome, your impact can be powerful.

It’s a rewarding way to strengthen Jewish life in your own neighbourhood, one connection at a time.
